Rural children from our area of work are deprived from school education. The dropout rate of students from this area is about 60%. This is due to poor economic condition of farmers, long distances for students to commute from remote villages, poor transportation facilities, demand of children for household work & agricultural work, lack of importance attached to education of girls & hilly terrain.

Looking to this situation, we are planning to build a hostel for the rural children. A local social worker has donated a land of 5000 sq. ft. at Khadakwadi village, for this purpose, to Rachana. Since land is available, we desperately need to take up the construction work. This hostel will accommodate 75 students. Total cost for the construction of the hostel is estimated to $40,000.00.

The school would be at a walking distance from the hostel. The school is being run by a social organization that imparts quality instruction to its students. Apart from academic instruction, visits of technologists, teachers & eminent professionals from different disciplines would be arranged to ensure all round development of the personality of the students. Our endeavor would be to develop the students into a knowledgeable, responsible citizen of the community. The expenses for hostel accommodation and instruction would be met through foster parents plan. Rachana has received encouraging feedback to the foster parents plan from its well-wishers, donors & friends. We are requesting you to donate generously in terms of cash, kind, field work, & technical assistance to this project & enlighten the lives of children who would otherwise be deprived of the opportunity to a better future.
